Overlap is a free tool for finding a time a group can meet and putting it in the calendar. Using it means accepting the following, which is short because there is not much to it.
It sends real invitations to real people
Booking a meeting sends a Google Calendar invitation to every address on the grid, from the organiser’s own Google account. Only put in addresses belonging to people who expect to hear from you. Using Overlap to send unwanted invitations is a misuse of it, and of the organiser’s Google account, which Google may act on independently.
There are limits on how many meetings and invitations one Google account can send per day. They exist to stop that misuse and are not negotiable or documented in detail here, because publishing the exact numbers would mostly help someone work around them.
The link is the key
Anyone with an event link can see the grid and add their availability. Anyone with the organiser’s private link controls the event. Share each accordingly. There is no password to fall back on, and that is the deliberate cost of participants never having to sign up.
No guarantee it keeps working
This is a side project running on free and low-cost infrastructure. It may be slow, it may be unavailable, and it may stop existing. Do not use it for anything where a missed meeting matters. Events are deleted automatically after a set period, so it is not a record of anything: once the meeting is in your calendar, your calendar is the record.
It is provided as-is, with no warranty. To the extent the law allows, nothing here creates liability for a meeting that did not happen, an invitation that did not arrive, or data that was lost.
Overlap uses the Google Calendar API and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google. What it does with that access is described in the privacy policy, and access can be revoked at your Google account permissions at any time.
