When2Meet finds a time on desktop. Overlap books the meeting — and is designed for phones
When2Meet finds a time on desktop. Overlap books the meeting — and is designed for phones. When2meet has no app, and on a phone its grid fights scrolling: the drag that paints time is the gesture that moves the page. Overlap is a free no-account poll designed for phones, and once a time is chosen it can email the Google Calendar invite with a Meet link to the people who left an email.

What to try on a phone
When2meet is the website at when2meet.com. These are the moves that help when the people answering are on a phone and a laptop is not around.
- Stay in the browser. There is no When2meet app to install. Open the link in the phone's browser. Store listings with a similar name are other products, and they do not open a when2meet.com event.
- Type your name first. The grid files your paint under that name. Do it before you start.
- Tap when a drag scrolls. If dragging moves the page instead of painting, tap one time at a time.
- Zoom until a cell is easy to hit. A week of columns makes each cell small. Pinch until one cell is a comfortable target, then move to the hours you need.
- Turn the phone sideways. Landscape fits more of the week on the screen, which helps when you are reading the group rather than painting one column.
- Read a large group on a laptop. The result is a wide table. A laptop is the reliable way to read a busy heat map. The steps above are for answering from a phone.
Why a desktop grid fails on a phone
When2meet’s grid is a table of hours laid out for a mouse. Holding the button and dragging paints a run, and the page stays where it is. On a phone that same drag is how you scroll When2meet, so the page moves and the cells you meant to paint stay empty.
The table is also wider than a phone. You see a slice of the week, and the cells shrink until a tap misses. The site loads. The gesture is the part that fails. The When2meet alternative page records the same limit in one line: the interface is hard to use on a phone.
Overlap on a phone
Overlap is a free availability poll designed for phones. Creating a poll needs no account, and answering one needs no account either. At a phone-width layout you can create the poll and paint the grid without connecting Google.
Tap a time to mark it. Drag across times to mark a run. That is the instruction on the grid.
If the organiser connects Google, Overlap emails a calendar invitation with a Meet link to the people who left an email. Anyone can download an .ics file without signing in. People who left no email are not emailed an invitation.
It does not copy existing events onto the grid. People mark their own times. Connecting Google is how the organiser creates the event. The access token is used to create the event and is then discarded. There is no standing access to a calendar afterwards. What the permission covers is on the privacy page.
The invitation carries Google Meet. Overlap does not create a Zoom meeting or a Microsoft Teams meeting.
Each person sees the grid in their own time zone. Availability is stored as absolute instants, so two people marking the same row agree on the same moment. Scheduling across time zones is a separate page, and it stays that way. The manual path from a When2meet into Google Calendar is When2meet and Google Calendar. How it works is the three steps from the start.
Common questions
- Is there a When2meet app?
- No. When2meet has no app of its own for iPhone or Android. The product is the website. Store listings with similar names are other products, and they do not open a when2meet.com event.
- Why is When2meet hard on a phone?
- The grid is a desktop table. Painting a run of times is a drag, and on a phone that drag scrolls the page. The cells are also small once a week of columns is on a narrow screen. Tapping one time at a time, zooming until a cell is easy to hit, and turning the phone sideways all help.
- Can I use Overlap on a phone?
- Overlap is designed for phones. You can create a poll and paint the grid with no account, and without connecting Google, at a phone-width layout. Tap a time to mark it. Drag across times to mark a run. That is the instruction on the grid.
- Do participants need an account?
- No. People answering an Overlap poll need no account, no password, and no Google account. Creating a poll needs no account either. An email address is optional, and leaving it blank still counts. Only the organiser connects Google, and only to send the invitation.
- Can Overlap send a calendar invite with Meet?
- Yes. Once a time is chosen, the organiser can connect Google and email a calendar invitation that includes a Meet link. It goes to people who left an email address. Participants do not connect a calendar.
- Can I use Zoom instead of Meet?
- No. Overlap adds a Google Meet link on the calendar invitation. It does not create a Zoom meeting or a Microsoft Teams meeting.
- How do time zones work?
- Each person sees the Overlap grid in their own time zone. Availability is stored as absolute instants, so the same row is the same moment. The calendar invitation uses that instant, and each calendar app shows it in that person's own zone.
